Who are we supporting in our community?

Grit Clinics is donating a portion of their proceeds to Commute Options, in 2012.  This money is used to purchase helmets for children that participate in the Safe Routes to School program.
What is Commute Options?
Commute Options, a non-profit in Bend, Oregon, creates livable communities by reducing the impacts of driving alone.

Through active transportation choice, Commute Options encourages healthy individuals, a clean environment, and a strong economy. Commute Options represents transportation options in our community by educating citizens, businesses and government about the value of carpooling, vanpooling, walking, bicycling, teleworking and using public transportation.

Safe Routes to School (SRTS), a program of Commute Options, encourages and educates children on pedestrian and bicycle traffic safety. SRTS hands-on instruction helps students become more adept at making safe decisions that build confidence and skills they need in life. Students learn cycling on our fleet of bicycles and use helmets that are provided by Commute Options. As a result, this program helps make bicycling and walking to school safer and more appealing as a transportation choice, thus encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age.

Volunteers needed for Spring 2012 SRTS bicycle and pedestrian safety education.  Do you enjoy riding your bicycle? Well then this volunteer opportunity is for you.  Contact brian@commuteoptions.org for more information.
